Backyard Wedding in Muskegon on Lake Michigan’s Shoreline – Laurel & Ben Super 8 Film

Laurel & Ben reached out to me just 17 days before their wedding hoping we would be available to shoot Super 8 film for their wedding day in Muskegon. Fortunately, we were still free but we had no idea how intentional, thoughtful, candid, colorful, fun, and wonderful their wedding would be. We were in for a huge surprise as L&B are both filmmakers themselves so the creative juices were flowing on their big day. They were comfortable in their own skin, willing to try some things, down for fun, and Laurel surprised [almost] everyone with her floral veil that was flecked with tons of little flowers. In addition to Filming their wedding day, I (Reese) also grabbed a bunch of stills from the film itself. These can be seen below: it’s actually a very arduous process as I go through the film frame by tiny frame and screen grab these amazing moments. In the film, they are beautiful, but frozen in time they are a whole other source of wonder & creativity that I couldn’t create with the latest Lightroom tools.

Aside from being a creative and inspirational wedding, here are all the ways it was so much more…
-they got married in Laurel’s sister’s backyard
-the tears were flowing from the moment they saw one another, even Ben’s big brother (one of the officiants) couldn’t hold back the flood
-the stoke level was 100 from all their friends & family
-Laurel created handmade pieces of art for many in their wedding party, made from sea glass found on the beaches of Lake Michigan
-the way Ben could not hold back his smitten smile any time he looked at Laurel
-how Laurel’s dad recorded their entrances with his VR goggles
-the interviews I got to do with a lot of their guests at the reception at Adelaide Point
-Laurel’s sweet, kind, and handsome nephew
-how Laurel’s grandma was just the cutest old person you’ve ever seen and how she loved L&B with her hugs and squinty smiles
-the toasts & speeches
-the golden sunset off Muskegon Brewing Company down below
