Allie contacted us to do a couple’s session for her and Christopher on New Year’s Eve as it was their first time on island and they wanted to remember their trip here. They’ve been together for 7.5 yrs – Allie was a freshman in high school and Christopher a senior when they started dating – so my light bulb went off thinking “hey, maybe he’ll propose to her” but I just kept on with the plan to document their stay here. However, the morning of the shoot, Allie’s mom calls and gives me a heads up that Chris might be planning to pop the question (clue #2).

So, we start photographing and A&C are two of the most down to earth, dry sense of humor, sweetest people I’ve met (even after their AIrbnb host stiffed them the night before). All of a sudden at one point during the session, I notice a bulge in Chris’s pocket and now I know it’s game on 🙂 Needless to say, this was truly a surprise proposal for everyone involved. I gave him the wink and head nod to let him know I got the message so he dropped knee and asked “Allie Farmer, will you marry me?”! He proposed using a heart lego box which was the same box he used for his first gift to Allie, which was a lego-shaped heart necklace 🙂 He was able to get Allie’s grandma’s ring to ask her to be her bride – it didn’t fit, but nothing a jeweler can’t fix for such sweet sentiment.
