Backpacking the Upper Peninsula

Visiting Pictured Rocks had been on “our list” ever since moving to Michigan. Then what do you know, we found ourselves a few months away from moving back to Hawaii permanently and still hadn’t made it to the Upper Peninsula. So we looked at the calendar, found a span of 2.5 free days, loaded the car with our backpacks and took off.

Let’s just say the few extra layers we grabbed at the last second saved our bums! It was unseasonably cold up there but the raw beauty made up for that times ten. The original plan was to just camp, chill and enter “vaca-mode”… but that quickly turned into backpacking 3o-some miles of the coast. Once you catch a glimpse of the cliffs over that Lake Superior water it’s hard to stop going! Constantly in wonder and awe over this planet, it all points back to our Creator. From simple stuff like glassy water or the leaves starting to change to crazier things like a tree growing out of a rock island. Insane!
