The Roukema family came to Hawaii for vacation and to celebrate Ron & Ashley’s 20th wedding anniversary at an Airbnb on Oahu’s North Shore. They flew their officiant over from Molokai – the same woman who married them 20 years earlier!
It was Ross & Heather’s 20th wedding anniversary and they wanted photos to remember this season with their two sons 🙂 They had gone to a luau at Waimea Valley the night before where Ross sprained his ankle and had to go to the ER so for the whole shoot, he had a boot on his foot! They were total champs about it and we even walked all around Kawela Bay: to the beach, the banyan tree, and then out to the point to catch the sunset 🙂
They were all about making sure everyone got their toes sandy after the ceremony and had plenty of yard games for everyone to meet & greet. We loved the way Allexa’s grandpa looked at her with such adoration and love 🙂 Enjoy browsing their easy, breezy backyard wedding day in the country town of Hauula, Hawaii at Kokololio Beach.
Bonnie was working as an Athletic Training Intern and Jake was coaching football. Jake gave himself blisters to come and talk to Bonnie! Then after a big team win over Navy they were driving off base and their cars ended up side by side. Bonnie ended up yelling her phone number out the window to Jake! The rest they say is history!
They were on the North Shore for her husband’s cancer remission, Bailey’s graduation from high school, Evan’s 21st birthday, and their own 25th wedding anniversary! They figured photographs on the beach in front of the Pacific Ocean would be the best way to commemorate this season of their life.
Having the kids there made it extra special for them as they could witness their parents love and devotion to one another. There were lots of smirks, yawns, and hugs! Their son just did his own thing the whole day, while their daughter got in a white gown as well and felt like it was her own wedding day 🙂
Her mom cried frequently, her nephew wrote “I like you. – Tom” on their welcome block, it started raining during their first dance and they shrugged it off, they kissed a pig and made all the little boys cover their mouths, and they – along with all their guests – took a boat across Molii Pond to Secret Island to share their vows in front of Kaneohe Sandbar and Chinaman’s Hat.
Sindy thought they were just getting some photos taken together while vacationing in Hawaii, but was totally caught off guard when Daniel decided to pop the question 🙂 She couldn’t stop hugging him, smiling, or being filled with tears!
It was a truly honoring day to their friends & families. The gifts they gave, the love they showered on their guests, and the speeches from their siblings speak to these two’s love for each other and others. They ended the night under some twinkle light and twinkle stars with an epic sunset to boot at Olowalu Plantation House.
Kelsey & Scott were a special privilege to photograph because we had photographed their wedding 5 years previously! Their wedding was the first outdoor wedding we had ever photographed and it was a joy to see these two huge smiles once again. They told us they actually never had photos taken again since their engagement and wedding day 5 years ago 🙂
“I did the impossible – got a Kauai boy to move to Oahu,” Kirsten laughs. These two are a perfect example of how in the best of relationships, a husband and wife make one another better. Better friends, better employees, better advocates for this planet. We are so grateful to know them and can’t wait to see what they do for the Hawaiian islands in their marriage.
Katelyn & Ignacio got married at their local courthouse in Kentucky and never really had any photographs from their wedding day so they decided to adventure around the North Shore of Oahu and check out all the views & sunset at Kawela Bay on Turtle Bay 🙂
We met up with Nicole & Jim at Maui Brewing Co several months before their wedding where she told us two things: #1 don’t stay too late because Jim’s friends get crazy and #2 that Jim hates having photos taken. We said “awesome!”
