The main guests present were fellow friends from UD and immediate family. Nikki’s grandma made the trip from Japan to help dress her in a traditional Japanese kimono – a process that took about 1.5 hours and had her grandma wiping the sweat from her brow several times as she served Nikki in a hot little closet in their Airbnb at Hale Koa Estate. Friends & fam hungout in the front yard playing giant Jenga, drinking Kona beers, and helping set up for the ceremony.

Amanda & Josh planned a small and simple wedding with their closest friends and family at the base of the Ko’olau Mountains in the Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden. They paid $20 for a campsite permit which allowed them to have their ceremony and “reception” in the botanical gardens.

These two will be getting married right down the street from us in Hawaii next spring, so we were stoked to hang out and document this season of engagement for them at the place they met.

And after all was said and done, they told us it was the best trip of their lives.

Family decorated the space with throw pillows, paper lanterns, and a few other small details and everything else was left as it had been for years.
