The main guests present were fellow friends from UD and immediate family. Nikki’s grandma made the trip from Japan to help dress her in a traditional Japanese kimono – a process that took about 1.5 hours and had her grandma wiping the sweat from her brow several times as she served Nikki in a hot little closet in their Airbnb at Hale Koa Estate. Friends & fam hungout in the front yard playing giant Jenga, drinking Kona beers, and helping set up for the ceremony.

They repeated over & over again how this was more of a backyard BBQ with a wedding in the middle of the evening 🙂 The wedding day was exactly that: yard games, little girls looking at Victoria as though she were a princess, tons of hugs, a Spotify DJ and impromptu dance floor in the Airbnb living room, and finally a late night bridal party dip in the pool!

Victoria & Carlos – Casual North Shore Oceanfront Wedding

Becca & Brandon’s wedding was by far one of the most unique weddings we’ve had the privilege to photograph. It wasn’t unique because of the details, but because of the people and the story.

They were so comfortable in their own skin and confident in who they were created to be 🙂 They claim to eat more Portillo’s than anyone else in the city of Chicago and are a true Superman/Lex Luther combo; Mackenzie being superman and Lex being the Kryptonotic Luther haha.

Mac & Lex – Honeymoon on Hawaii’s North Shore

It was super important for D&M to have plenty of images where their loved ones were having fun in the beauty of the location they chose! With yard games and mountain views, it wasn’t hard for anyone to enjoy themselves. These were some of the most heartfelt & genuine people we’ve ever met and are excited to share their wedding day. You will see how Dani’s grandma just adored the two of them, the respect her brothers have for her and her parents, the crazy dance off to choose which table got dinner first, and kids being….well, kids!

Dani & Mat – Married at Molii Gardens in Kualoa Ranch

We photographed Jenna & Brendan’s wedding in Cincinnati, OH just 5 months before this. They decided to honeymoon in Hawaii at Waikiki, Maui, and Kauai. For Valentine’s Day (just two days before they arrived), Jenna’s mom surprised them with a couple’s session to have photographs of their brief time on Oahu before heading to the other islands 🙂

Jenna & Brendan – Diamond Head Honeymoon in Waikiki

So, we currently have a child born in 2018 and are 100% confident she’s gonna think we’re dinosaurs because we were born in the 1900’s haha.

Life Lately: January 2019

In Hebrew, Seea means “helper” which we thought was appropriate since she would be our oldest child. And her middle name came from the combo of her first name and middle name sounding like “sea of grace” which we’re all swimming in because of the greatest gift that comes to us in Jesus.

Life Lately: December 2018

Megan brings the spunk while Travis is quiet and reserved, but during their vows they both had wet eyes and wet cheeks as well as their four witnesses 🙂 It was such a simple beach wedding, which is exactly what these two wanted after being together for so long. It was intentional, emotional, and intimate. It was such an honor to get close to these two and their four loved ones as they looked on with love in their eyes, joy in their smiles, and warmth in their hugs.

He proposed using a heart lego box which was the same box he used for his first gift to Allie, which was a lego-shaped heart necklace 🙂 He was able to get Allie’s grandma’s ring to ask her to be her bride – it didn’t fit, but nothing a jeweler can’t fix for such sweet sentiment.

Allie & Christopher – Surprise Proposal at Kualoa’s Secret Beach

Some of the best moments from H&M’s wedding in Honolulu was the way her dad looked at her & teared up when he first saw her in her wedding dress, Matt’s parent’s getting emotional during the entire ceremony, their symbolic – but windy – butterfly release, Hannah’s run in with the sliding door, their gorgeous portraits at Diamond Head, their emotional and intentional wedding vows that had the whole room in tears, and a unique photo-bomber while walking to the pier in Waikiki.

Hannah & Matthew – A Small Waikiki Elopement near Diamond Head

This month brought about more rainbows, Thanksgiving with friends, big surf, and pictures of the bump… If you don’t see us for awhile, it’s because baby K is here and we’re adoring everything about him/her 🙂

Life Lately: November 2018

Amanda & Josh planned a small and simple wedding with their closest friends and family at the base of the Ko’olau Mountains in the Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden. They paid $20 for a campsite permit which allowed them to have their ceremony and “reception” in the botanical gardens.
